The efficacy, quality, and sustainability begin with cosmetic raw materials. Consumers prefer natural and organic ingredients that are safe for the skin and shun away from ‘chemical ingredients’. This led to the need for sustainable cosmetics raw materials resulting in remarkable advancements in plant material technology.
Existing plant material technology was limited to using raw materials, extracts, and fermented products of plants. A field that has recently been in the spotlight as an alternative to is callus research using plant biotechnology. Plant callus refers to a cell mass with excellent cell division and differentiation capabilities that is used to heal the injured or damaged area of the plant.
