Generate Perceived Product Benefits Through Multisensory Cues Of Beauty Products By Actalia Sensoriel

Actalia Sensoriel is a leading research institute specialized in sensory and consumer tests for more than 30 years both in France and Internationally.

Actalia supports cosmetic brands with tailor-made approaches meeting their needs in terms of product development and product optimization and ensuring memorable consumer experiences. Constantly developing new methods and integrating artificial intelligence (AI) tools to meet the new challenges of consumer centric product development, Actalia created a new method allowing to convey specific product benefits throughout the different stages of product use based on multisensory cues.

  • The objective: Generate multisensory guidelines to evoke specific benefits throughout beauty product use

Our unique method is based on 3 components:

  1. Sensory component: Allows to identify product multisensory cues perceived by consumers and the dominances between them at each moment of product us
  2. Benefit component: Allows to define relevant benefits to assess and identify those conveyed by a product along its use
  3. Computational component: Links and hierarchizes multisensory cues according to their impacts on benefits evocation

This method offers multisensory guidelines to generate specific product benefits.
It highlights benefits conveyed at each stage of the product utilization and identifies the best moment to convey a specific benefit. Finally, this method could also be used in the next studies in association with our latest innovation allowing to assess emotions conveyed by beauty products with the final objective to design specific product emotions based on its product multisensory cues.
