Since 1999, HelioScreen has been the laboratory specialized in the in-vitro evaluation of sun protection in cosmetic products. Pioneer in In Vitro solar tests, our laboratory is a stakeholder in setting standards and methods worldwide. More than 20% of our activity is devoted to research and innovation for continuous improvement of tests. Traceability and quality are the company’s permanent commitments. Our main goal is to put our scientific expertise acquired over these years of practice and internationally recognized at your service.
In recent years, HelioScreen has been able to develop many testing methods, as well as new technologies (robotic spreading, reproducible sandblasted substrates, etc.) aimed at enabling better reproducibility and reliability of sun protection evaluation tests. These last two years, our R&D studies also have allowed our laboratory to also offer innovative in vitro methods: long UVA protection, sweat resistance, immediate protection…
According to Sébastien MIKSA, the General Manager : “Our goal is to provide a sincere and reliable sun protection performance for our customers but also for end consumers. In this way, we continuously improve our knowledge and increase our tests portfolio to fulfill the marketing trend based on quality and science. “
SWEAT RESISTANCE
In the last few years, HelioScreen developed a new sweating simulator to assess the in vitro sweat resistance of a sunscreen product. Using molded PMMA plates, products can be exposed to an artificial sweat solution under a specific set of conditions.
Careful about meeting regulations and methods while having a strong implication in the news intervening in connection with the medium of the solar production, HelioScreen is for many years present within various normative groups such as ISO, CEN, AFNOR and many others. For indication, our laboratory is at the origin of the definition of the 7 key parameters for the proper performance of a sun protection test. “When I arrived at HelioScreen, the spreading of solar products was done manually. We were keen to improve it with the HD-SPREADMASTER. The laboratory also actively participates in improving standards and in particular that for SPF In Vitro but also in the development of new customer tests such as resistance to sweat, sand, friction, etc.
To offer all these new features and future activities, the laboratory is currently made up of three people instead of one person ten years ago” remembers Céline Vincent, the In Vitro Laboratory Manager.
Our values evolved within the years et and tend to further evolve in 2024 thanks to the numerous projects and achievements that the company will experience.
For Sébastien MIKSA,
“Our history, rich in sun protection expertise, paves the way for a bright future highlighted by innovations and regulatory updates to enhance protection evaluation. This is just the beginning and we aim to stay one of the leader in the sunscreen testing.”
In order to communicate these different projects, HelioScreen is participating this year at in-cosmetics Global, at stand 1R68.
