SGS acquires cosmetics testing Laboratory IEC via Industries Cosmétiques

Geneva-based SGS, a global specialist in testing, inspection and certification, has signed an agreement to acquire IEC (Institut d’Expertise Clinique).

A French family-owned group founded in 1990, IEC conducts clinical trials to assess safety and efficacy, as well as to test the effectiveness of its products. in vitrosensory analysis studies, as well as consumer tests.

These tests are carried out for dermatological and ophthalmological products in the cosmetics, pharmaceutical and chemical sectors. The group – which employs over 150 people – is present in Europe, Asia and Africa, serving an international clientele of some of the world’s most prestigious brands.
