StratiCELL-BOX, New Cost-Optimized Multi-Testing Solutions
15 February 2024
In an increasingly fast-growing market, the dermo-cosmetics industry is constantly seeking for new ingredients with proven cutaneous activity. To support its customers in accelerating the screening of promising molecules, StratiCELL is proud to announce the new “StratiCELL-BOX“, a bundle of in vitro efficacy tests selected for their convergence towards single claims and their technical organization for economies of scale.
More precisely, the Skin-Ageing-BOX includes a set of assays related to anti-aging properties. Today, we know that beyond the natural, intrinsic aging of the skin, external factors such as overexposure to UV radiation, commonly known as photoaging, can accelerate skin aging. This is why the Skin-Ageing-BOX offers to evaluate key ageing factors in human primary fibroblasts subjected or not to UV stress. In vitro assays to measure the major components of the dermal extracellular matrix, namely hyaluronic acid and type I collagen, as well as antioxidant properties by measuring reactive oxygen species are included. Finally, fibroblast proliferation is assessed by measuring bromodeoxyuridine incorporation during cell division. Taken as a whole, this multi-test offer covers the main claims of elasticity, hydration, regeneration and antioxidant properties that are mainly expected from dermo-cosmetic actives reducing the various age-related effects.
In the Pollution-and-Light-Damage-BOX, StratiCELL focuses on the cellular processes involved in protection against environmental stress. Excessive UV radiation and urban pollution can have deleterious effects on the skin, such as an accumulation of reactive oxygen species, damage to the extracellular matrix of the dermis and an extreme inflammatory response. This is why the Pollution-and-Light-Damage-BOX offers several in vitro assays performed on human fibroblasts or keratinocytes subjected to UV light and/or urban pollutants. In detail, antioxidant properties are assessed by measuring reactive oxygen species, while anti-inflammatory properties are measured by quantifying IL-6 and TNF-a cytokines in stress-induced keratinocyte models. Finally, the extracellular matrix remodeling is assessed by quantifying type I collagen in UV-induced human fibroblasts. Altogether, this package of efficacy tests is entirely adapted to study new actives protecting against daily environmental stresses.
In conclusion, StratiCELL is proud to offer now two new cost-effective multi-testing solutions for defining the efficacy of innovative dermo-cosmetic active molecules with anti-aging or protective activities. The first two topics of ageing and environmental stress should be the first of a long series of promising StratiCELL-BOX to be discovered in a near future. Entirely adapted to the study of non-formulated compounds, the StratiCELL-BOX should greatly facilitate and accelerate the search for advanced ingredients in response to an ever-growing market.
