15 March 2024

Cosmeticians from all over the world are reuniting once again at the New-York Suppliers’ Day the 1&2 May 2024, allowing much-needed and fruitful exchanges with partners, suppliers and customers.

👉 The Skinobs team will be delighted to welcome you booth 1655, to talk with you about your evaluation projects during your time at NY Suppliers’ Day!

The event is also the occasion for Skinobs to plan the third edition of “We are testing”, a way for visitors to discover testing labs expertise during the show.

As a reminder, Skinobs’ mission is to guide you in your evaluation process and to advise whatever classic or innovative claims to be assessed. This is to help you to identify the most appropriate methods and choose the right Contact Research Organization (CROs) around the world that best match your evaluation specifications for :

  • Clinical objectivation such as tolerance, efficacy, sensory analysis, or consumer tests,
  • Preclinical assays in-tubo, in-vitro or ex-vivo such as stability, safety, container-content or efficacy assays.

What is We Are Testing, new concept by Skinobs Testing Platforms ?

We are Testing is you! “We Are Testing” is a practical, eco-responsible, and dynamic way for those involved in testing, large and small, to be present at the events that count in the sector.

Portable and Connected Tactile Palpation Devices: TouchyFinger and Adhelaskin

The two tactile palpation devices presented are portable and connected technologies. Not merely do they enable the objective quantification of mechanical properties of soft tissues in a static manner, but also the objective assessment of the touching gesture when the human finger traverses a certain distance on a living or inert material. The Adhelaskin device is a technology for measuring the static indentation of the skin surface. The system is motorized and equipped with a displacement sensor, enabling a cycle of loading and unloading on human skin with a spherical, rigid body. This portable technology allows for the quantification of cutaneous stiffness and elasticity modulus, adhesion force, and the height of the lateral ridge.

The second portable and connected technology instruments is the human finger with a pressure force sensor and a vibration measurement sensor, initiated during the touching gesture. When the human finger is equipped with such a device and performs a touch test, the results are displayed on a tablet showing the pressure force signal and the vibration signal. The first parameter quantified on the vibrations provides an overall measure of the mean vibrational level in decibels (dB). The significant originality of the device lies in its ability to quantify the excitement state of mechanoreceptors: Merkel, Meissner, Ruffini, and Pacini, within their respective frequency bands, enabling the identification of the effects of textures in Merkel and Meissner cells, the shearing effect in Ruffini cells, and very fine textures in Pacini cells. Apart from applications in the cosmetic industry, TouchyFinger has now become a portable tool dedicated to the entire surface manufacturing and finishing industry, especially for the characterization of tactile perception of new low-carbon materials.
