Skin microbiome research is increasingly exploring how microorganisms interact with visible skin characteristics. To understand these relationships, microbiome data can be combined with objective, quantitative skin measurements. Antera 3D provides a non-invasive way to measure parameters including redness, pigmentation, pores, texture, volume, fine lines and wrinkles. In a recent study published in Microorganisms, Antera 3D measurements were analysed alongside 16S rRNA microbiome data to investigate relationships between bacterial changes and skin quality. The study identified correlations between specific microbial changes and several skin parameters. This demonstrates how objective 3D skin imaging can complement microbiome analysis and help translate microbial changes into measurable skin outcomes.
