ChemCom, a specialist in research into G-Protein-Coupled-Receptors (GPCRs), has developed an artificial human nose by cloning and expressing all human Olfactory Receptors (hORs). ChemCom uses a unique technology platform and a chemical library with more than 7,000 molecules. ChemCom has deorphanized (i.e. identified which chemical entities can activate a particular receptor) more than 120 hORs.
ChemCom has identified malodors’ blockers (antagonists) and chemical entities that can enhance pleasant odors (enhancers or positive allosteric modulators or more potent agonists). ChemCom allows the use of simplified odor prints composed of a restricted number of molecules to mimic the organoleptic properties of a given product using less and cheaper ingredients.
