Skin biopsies and tape stripping are the two techniques used in skin barrier research. However, in comparison with skin biopsies, tape stripping has great advantages in being cheap, easy, quick, painless and leaves no scar. All these characteristics makes tape stripping the ideal candidate as a useful tool in the cosmetic research field.

In Complife’s laboratories, after investigating the skin barrier properties, they investigated the opportunity to integrate the clinical experience with the in vitro laboratory expertise. And that’s how the history of tape stripping evolved to biochemical investigation of selected skin parameters.
