L’Oréal Removes ‘Whitening/Lightening’ Terms via Happi

The world’s largest beauty company, L’Oréal, will reword is packaging on its skin-lightenting products, removing terms such as “white,” “fair” and “light” from products, a spokeswoman said on Friday. L’Oreal’s products include Garnier Skin Naturals White Complete Multi Action Fairness Cream.

The move came one day after Unilever made a similar announcement in regards to its Fair & Lovely brand.

The rebrands by L’Oréal and Unilever fall short of actions by Johnson & Johnson, which earlier this week said it would stop selling skin whitening creams sold in Asia and the Middle East under its Neutrogena and Clean & Clear brand.
