PhDTrials supports anti-ageing claims: human anti-oxidant methods
5 April 2018
UV radiation is one of the major factors that induce photo damage in the skin due to the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS). PhD Trials® researchers, developed a model that use β-carotene, a Yellow chromophore that when oxidized by UV radiation loses its color.
The discoloration can then be monitored by colorimetry (b* parameter). This technique allows to measure oxidative stress on skin, on an in vivo way, and therefore it can be useful to assess of skin ageing properties, particularly the effectiveness against photoaging effects.
