Evaluation of the preservative system effectiveness by the Laboratoire Midac

Evaluation of the preservative system effectiveness of cosmetics-type risk products, preserved detergents, medical devices, drugs, (Preservative Efficacy Test).

Did you know ?

For conformal microbiological tests that give rational results, do not miss the neutralization!

This is a key step to evaluate your cosmetics.

Sensitive cosmetics may contain a preservative system to avoid contamination due to repeated consumer use, and thus ensure an acceptable level of hygiene. Trials are available and essential for:

  • check the effectiveness of this conservative system,
  • check the microbiological cleanliness of the formulations.

During these tests, it is necessary to inhibit their antimicrobial activity to allow microorganisms potentially present to multiply in the presence of a nutrient medium, and thus highlight a contamination to qualify. This step corresponds to the neutralization and must be validated. In addition, do not forget that the quantity tested remains essential! Microorganisms will be more easily found in a sample of 100ml than 1ml.

Also think about the sizes of the batches produced, and do not hesitate to send us samples of beginning, middle and end of production.

Trust the MIDAC LABORATORY to best support you in your response to microbiological quality requirements for your products.

Microbiology is an essential concept to take into account in the design and production of cosmetics. Indeed, the majority of them contain a significant amount of water, have a pH favorable to microorganisms … The control points however remain numerous.
