LG Household & Health Care has established a microbiome research center in Otaru, Hokkaido of Japan to develop microbiome cosmetics for advanced overseas markets such as North America and Japan, the company announced on May 13.
Hokkaido is famous not only for its clean natural environment, but for good conditions for researching beneficial fermented strains and many nutritious plants useful for skin.
At the same time, the region has fermentation secrets handed down by traditional artisans and excellent research infrastructure, including Hokkaido University.
LG Household & Health Care will conduct maturation tests by naturally fermenting various plants useful for skin collected in the Hokkaido area and study changes in microbiomes and experiments to isolate fermented strains with various effects on skin.
