Le Rouge Français took advantage of MakeUp in Paris 2026 to announce the launch of its Green Tech platform. Co-founded by Elodie Carpentier in 2018, the brand—known for its titanium dioxide-free formulas and expertise in plant-based color—is opening its innovation pipeline to the entire beauty industry.
What motivated you to make your Green Tech platform available to the beauty industry?
Elodie Carpentier: The idea is to offer the expertise on plant-based color that Le Rouge Français has developed over seven years of R&D. This includes our titanium dioxide-free formulations certified Cosmos Organic or Cosmos Natural developed for our 80 skus: lipstick, blush, mascara, eyeliner, nail polish…
This is in line with our vision of wanting—and being able—to change the codes of beauty and to scale innovations that will become tomorrow’s industry standards. Regulations are evolving and today, the opposition of ‘naturalness’ versus ‘performance’ is starting to fade. We’re talking about skinification and longevity, so make-up needs to resemble skincare: it must protect the skin and be healthy by being free of controversial ingredients and offer biological benefits.
What areas of expertise are you making available?
Le Rouge Français holds 15 patents across the entire value chain, from the field to finished products. We provide access to more than 250 dye plants—those with both coloring and biological properties—sourced from pesticide-free French agriculture (madder and indigo for example) and from ethical, sustainable sourcing in other countries.
In addition, we have patented technologies developed notably through university collaborations and a CIFRE PhD on supercritical CO2 extraction, a biotechnological process that allows us to extract color and manufacture pigments from these plants.
