Fondée en 1951, la SFC rassemble tous ceux qui sont passionnés par les sciences de la beauté. Aujourd’hui, la SFC compte 700 membres individuels représentant 375 entreprises, institutions et universités.
La SFC est une société savante dont la mission est de promouvoir et de diffuser les connaissances dans toutes les disciplines scientifiques liées à la cosmétologie (chimie, biologie, physico-chimie, …). Elle remplit ces missions en organisant des manifestations scientifiques (Symposium international de la SFC, Rencontres de la SFC, Jeudis de la SFC, Cosmet’Agora) et en mettant en relation ses membres (annuaire, Happy Hours, etc.).
