Introducing DynaCam: The All-in-One Skin Imaging Solution from QIMA Life Sciences

QIMA Life Sciences’ latest innovation, DynaCam®, is not just simply another image capture device. DynaCam® was designed to redefine the limits of what’s possible today in clinical skin evaluation

Because higher-resolution images offer greater detail and thus enable more advanced analysis, our engineering teams are continually looking for new ways to refine and enhance the capture capabilities of our devices.

DynaCam® is no exception, offering significantly improved sensor resolution for superior image quality.  Moreover, thanks to its continuous ‘orbital movement’ around the subject, it enables multi-angle acquisition –even allowing true profile images to be captured at a perfect 90°.

DynaCam® offers a range of lighting modalities to suit various needs, including cross-polarized (ideal for skin tone studies and analyzing attributes like redness, pigmentation, and tone evenness), and parallel-polarized imaging (useful for visible relief such as wrinkles, fine lines, and pores). The device also supports intermediate polarization settings, allowing you to address specific needs or precise conditions of observation.

Also worth highlighting, DynaCam® makes it possible to recreate ‘true’ diffuse lighting (i.e., light coming from all directions), similar to what you would expect from sunlight on a sunny day outdoors. This groundbreaking innovation allows you to achieve results that closely match everyday perceptions. Yet, the customizable lighting settings offer endless options in terms of color, intensity, and geometry (not only diffuse, but also frontal, lateral, and more), enabling the most relevant skin evaluations for each specific skin attribute.

DYNAMIC VIDEO STATION

The name DynaCam® captures the device’s dynamic nature and core feature: video acquisition. The dynamic video station features different modes, including an automatically rotating and translating camera (similar to an ‘orbital’ movement) that allows for the capture of 4K videos of the face at 180°, automatic movement of lighting around the face, simultaneous movement of both lighting and camera, and even video acquisition of facial expressions under specific static lighting and camera configurations.

Each of these configurations provides the most relevant data to optimize the characterization and assessment of specific skin features, while also producing videos that simulate human perception in real observation conditions. As with image capture, video acquisition can be performed in various modalities, such as cross, parallel, or intermediate polarization.

3D FACE DIGITIZER

3D facial acquisition is completed in just 10 seconds, resulting in two main types of applications.

The first one uses 3D reconstruction to provide accurate facial volume and contour information. This is particularly valuable for research related to cheek and lip volume, eyebags, sagging skin, and volume loss associated with aging. Additionally, it enables the assessment of facial volume changes after rejuvenation surgery and the volumizing effects of fillers. It also allows for the evaluation of facial contour modifications resulting from surgical procedures and the application of cosmetic products.

The second application consists in capturing true-to-life textures in great detail. This approach enables a comprehensive analysis of skin relief, roughness, and various other features. It is especially useful for assessing wrinkles, uneven skin texture, or scarring resulting from inflammatory acne lesions, among others.

Precision and Ease with Touch Screen Control

DynaCam® has been engineered for exceptional usability. Its motorized system features an adjustable height to maximize volunteer comfort, while the integrated ear support ensures precise repositioning, optimizing the acquisition process.

The intuitive touch-screen interface gives users comprehensive control over image and video capture, allowing them to adjust lighting settings, define acquisition angles, and more.

However, if you prefer to use preconfigured standard settings, you can very easily also do so. Simply select the capture mode that best suits your project, and we guarantee you’ll achieve flawless, repeatable results.
