Advancing cosmetic testing with C-Cube: reliable image and evaluation to validate claims

The demand for objective, reproducible data in cosmetic research continues to grow, particularly as product claims become more specific and science-driven. In this context, imaging is no longer a support tool, it plays a central role in demonstrating efficacy with clarity and credibility. Pixience has developed the C-Cube Clinical Research system to meet this need: a compact, high-resolution imaging solution designed to support the evaluation of both skin and scalp-related parameters, in line with real-world clinical workflows. Thanks to its calibrated acquisition, automation features, and integrated analysis capabilities, the C-Cube helps translate visual changes into measurable outcomes. This presentation will highlight the role of standardized imaging in cosmetic protocols and share insights into how emerging technologies are reshaping the future of skin evaluation. Pixience provides advanced imaging solutions for clinical research. With a strong focus on precision and objectivity, the C-Cube imager allows brands and CROs evaluate product efficacy through standardized and reproducible imaging. It delivers high-resolution 2D and 3D images for assessing skin, scalp, and hair parameters. Built on validated metrics and scientific rigor, the C-Cube enables autonomous data collection and supports a wide range of cosmetic claims: colorimetry, prolilometry, hair analysis, ex-vivo, spectral analysis. Trusted by major industry players, Pixience is a key partner for delivering robust visual evidence in dermocosmetic and pharmaceutical research.

Cosmetic products efficiency evaluation using High-Speed Atomic Force Microscopy

After non-invasive collection of human corneocytes by tape stripping, skin surface nanotexture was analysed in 30 volunteers who applied three different cosmetic products over a 7-week period. High-Speed Atomic Force Microscopy (HS-AFM) was used to assess skin condition through a specific nanoscale biomarker, the Circular Nano-Objects (CNO). Previous studies have shown that a high density of CNOs is associated with impaired skin barrier function and reduced hydration, whereas values below 100 CNOs are indicative of healthy skin. The present study demonstrates that HS-AFM is sensitive enough to detect subtle variations in skin health and hydration, even in healthy volunteers following a standard cosmetic routine. These results highlight the relevance of HS-AFM as a powerful tool for evaluating cosmetic product efficacy at the nanoscale.

About Loretta

Loretta is a French startup company offering high-speed, high-precision skin nanotexture analysis. Using enhanced Atomic Force Microscopy and AI technology, they scan the topography of corneocytes to extract data such as hydration, skin age or barrier function from over 100 samples a week. Efficient on any skin type or age, with guaranteed results.
