The “Age of Average” Created by AI — Where Is Beauty Design Headed? : via The KBeauty Science

As artificial intelligence and data analytics continue to expand, the structural foundations of the cosmetics and beauty design industry are undergoing a fundamental transformation. The iF Design Trend Report 2026, published in April by iF International Forum Design, explores macro design trends while outlining key shifts directly applicable to the beauty sector.

Drawing from more than 10,000 submissions to the iF Design Award 2026 across approximately 70 countries, the report synthesizes global case studies spanning products, services, and design projects. Developed in collaboration with The Future:Project, this marks the fifth edition of the report.

Structured across 319 pages, the report presents paired trend dynamics such as Age of Average vs. Recoupling Design, Convenience Culture vs. Skillization, Next Nature vs. Human Enhancement, and Unfolding Cities vs. Urban Villages. These opposing forces illustrate a key thesis: every trend inevitably generates a counter-trend. Innovation, therefore, does not arise from either pole alone, but from the friction between them.
