What is the Exposome? : via European Exposome Forum

Living and working conditions, food, air, water and soil pollution, hazardous chemicals: These are largely invisible but ubiquitous exhibitions, which shape up to 90% of the health of European citizens. Exposome is the cumulative exposure to environmental, social and lifestyle factors, i.e. non-genetic, that influence human health throughout life. Living and working conditions, food, air, water and soil pollution: so many largely invisible but ubiquitous exhibitions, both in our environment and in our body. They are now estimated to be responsible for up to 90% of the risk of non-communicable diseases, while many of them are still insufficiently measured, regulated and prevented.

Alliance Mission

The Exposome Alliance wants to put prevention at the heart of Europe’s future health and research agenda by focusing on the exposome; the combined impact of environmental, social and lifestyle factors on health across a lifetime.
