IFSCC 2025 〈1〉 Interview | Dr. Aurélie Coubart, Evaluation Intelligence, L’Oréal Research & Innovation
My introduction to Dr. Aurélie Coubart dates back to the morning of September 15, the day before the main IFSCC event, when a workshop was held. As I entered the venue, I noticed that the woman seated at the table directly in front of me during breakfast was, moments later, standing on stage as the keynote speaker. When I approached her after the session to say hello, she already knew who I was. That brief encounter marked the beginning of our conversation.
Throughout the conference, Dr. Coubart greeted me each time we crossed paths with a warm smile, and she readily agreed to this interview. On the final day, as we parted ways, she left me with a gracious promise: “If you email me, I will definitely reply.”
Q. Could you briefly introduce yourself?
I am currently the International Cognitive Sciences Manager within the Evaluation Intelligence department at L’Oréal Research & Innovation. Within this structure, I lead the Cognitive & Sensory Sciences Team, overseeing scientific research platforms focused on emotion and memory.
My work involves developing scientifically grounded evaluation methodologies and adapting them specifically to the beauty experience. These methods are now used globally across L’Oréal. At the same time, I have been deeply engaged in building interdisciplinary collaborations to explore the relationships between cognitive science, sensory science, and beauty.
